# Sell Company Data to AI Companies

Companies can sometimes license operational records used to train or evaluate AI systems. That does not mean they have permission to sell every message, customer record or software export. Start with ownership, consent, contracts and the usefulness of the proposed data.

## Which company records might qualify?

Examples include resolved support tickets, project and issue histories, sales-process outcomes, internal documents and carefully scoped team communications. AI training buyers may care about how work was completed, what decisions were made and which outcomes followed—not just raw volume.

Inventory system owners and retention periods. Identify confidential customer information, employee communications, credentials, regulated data and third-party materials that must be excluded or independently reviewed.

## Who buys company data for AI training?

The market includes direct AI data vendors, data marketplaces, wind-down specialists, some model developers and sell-side brokers. A vendor described as an AI data provider may be an intermediary rather than the end user.

Compare the [buyer directory](/buyers/) and [71-company research table](/data-monetization-companies/). Profiles for [Mercor](/buyers/mercor/), [micro1](/buyers/micro1/) and [Handshake AI](/buyers/handshake-ai/) distinguish company statements from reported claims.

## Five steps to a licensing transaction

1. Prepare an inventory without sending raw data. 2. Ask counsel to confirm disclosure rights and required permissions. 3. Agree on allowed uses and a defensible de-identification process. 4. Solicit comparable offers on the same scope. 5. Negotiate payment, restrictions on sublicensing, retention and deletion.

Bright Info describes a competitive, seller-side process rather than purchasing your data itself. A buyer's published interest is not a binding offer.

## Compare the whole offer, not just the price

A non-exclusive, two-year permission is not equivalent to a perpetual exclusive grant. Assess who the final model user is, whether trained models may retain the benefit of the dataset, and who bears privacy and security liability.
